Review of CANVAS OF MY SOUL: THE HUES OF MY PALETTE By Anahit Arustamyan

Five Stars.

I had the pleasure this past weekend to sit in my backyard reading poetry, specifically Canvas of my Soul: The Hues of My Palette by Anahit Arustamyan.  The title page identifies this volume as containing Lyrical and philosophical poems.  And that is the treat that lays within this book, beautiful poetry along with beautiful color images that appear throughout the book: a palette, an incredible angel, wearing a windswept gown, her hair flowing behind her, reaching out as the poems reach out to a lover of the poetess in “We Wait and Wait to be Together”,

Our ages melt like soft snowflakes
And they won’t come back.

And to Christ. From “I Speak to Him”,

I whisper Jesus and he hears me.
My prayers unwrap my days unwrapped in mist.

I am looking forward soon to reading another book of this poetess’s poetry.
